It is a very nice locomotive. Good that this 2 foot machine came available in kitform.
The kit itself is well designed and fun to build. The building pictures that come with the kit on a cd are helpful. My kit was packed in a white, sturdy plastic casing that protect the parts during shipment.
I am about 2/3 done with the kit. The most difficult part of it was the kettle wrapping. Too bad it was not pre-formed. It is left to the builder how to get along there . A friend of mine told me to heat (glow) the wrapperparts in a flame. This weakens the metal so it can be bent. Do this very carefully and with afwul patience. Do not tighten the wrapper too tight with the bands mentioned in the instruction. Just right.
My kit failed some parts that were sent afterwards. It contained one cylindercasting that was not in good shape. Must have missed the endcontrol. In the beginning emailcontact was good. My second request ( a week ago) is still waiting for an answer. It will come, for sure.
The point is that a list of small parts is missing. So you can only find out when getting along with the kit.
When building the 2 feet version (what I did) you are left a bit to your own insight.
Not mentioned is what the distance should be between the wheels.
It is mentioned for the 16.5 mm version though. The 0n2 frame takes extra care because you have no hold. Do it on a glass surface. Check the width and squareness at frequent intervals. Read the instructions before. Do it at least twice and 'live'your way into the kit. I am at the gearbox/drive system now. Anyway, a good initiative,
much appreciated by me. You have to be good at soldering. Hope more models will come !
Email when the mood strikes.
